Steve Herman holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering with a focus in Process Engineering from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. After working with WaterSMART for three summers during his undergrad, Steve joined the team full time in May 2016 as a project engineer. In this role, Steve provides support on a range of projects including best practice development, technology evaluation, and facilitation of meetings for COSIA’s Water Technology Development Center.
Growing up in Calgary, Steve has many fond memories of enjoying Canada’s water resources; floating downriver and spending long days at the beach at his grandparent’s cabin have given him both a passion and an interest in conserving the resource. His summer positions at WaterSMART further piqued this interest, as Steve had the opportunity to work on projects including the innovative SAGD piloting and investigating the interconnections between Alberta’s water, energy, and food resources.
While working at WaterSMART, Steve is pursuing his P.Eng. designation and plans to complete a Master’s degree in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering with a specialization in Energy and Environmental Engineering at the University of Calgary. Steve looks forward to contributing to the preservation of a resource he grew up enjoying and continuing to learn about the water industry and other related industries.
